Board of Directors

VAMA’s governance framework is constituted by its Board of Directors providing guidance to the Management Team to ensure strict compliance with external regulations and internal controls.

 

Our governance framework allows continuous interactions among stakeholders to fulfill governance and corporate responsibility objectives, and promptly respond to issues posing social, environmental, and ethical risks.

 

VAMA is committed to have good governance in terms of responsible corporate behavior and ethical business practices. We believe in upholding high level of integrity in all our management decisions and business transactions is one of the key success factors.

 

The 4 member Board of Directors is responsible for overall oversight of the business, strategic guidance and decisions, and appointment of the Management Team.

 

Day to day management of business and implementation of strategic decisions are delegated by the Board of Directors to the Management Team.

 

The Management Team implements any decision only if it is in line with VAMA philosophy and values.

Cheng Peixiang was born in April 1969 in Xiangxiang city, Hunan Province. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in June 1998 and started his career in August 1991. And, he graduated from the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) in 1991, majored in Metallurgy and Machinery, and got master’s degree of Mechanical Engineering in USTB, EMBA in CEIBS, and doctor’s degree of Science and Engineering Management in Central South University in 2015, holding a title of professor of engineering.

He worked successively as Vice Director of Machinery workshop of High Speed Wire Rod Factory of Xiangtan Steel, Vice Senior Engineer of High Speed Wire Rod factory of Xiangtan Steel, Deputy Director of No. 2 High Speed Wire Rod Factory of Xiangtan Steel, General Manager of High Speed Wire Rod factory of Xiangtan Steel, Preparatory Group leader of New Steel making (heavy plates) of Xiangtan Steel, Director of heavy plates manufacturing department of Xiangtan Steel. He was appointed as General Manager Assistant of Xiangtan Steel in July 2005, Vice General Manager of Xiangtan Steel in May 2006, Deputy Party Secretary, Vice General Manager of Xiangtan Steel in February 2009 and Executive Vice General Manager, Deputy Party Secretary of Xiangtan Steel in November 2010. He serves Lianyuan Steel as Party Secretary since 2015 and serves VAMA as Chairman since 2018.

In 2021 Brad was appointed head of corporate business optimisation, with responsibility for CTO, R&D, CCM, capital goods, corporate communication and corporate responsibility and global automotive.  He is also responsible for automotive joint ventures in China and India and ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks Americas and is vice chairman of the Investment Allocation Committee (IAC).

Brad joined ArcelorMittal Dofasco, Canada, in 1986 and over the next 15 years held several technology and manufacturing roles. From 2001, he held various senior commercial positions, including vice-president of ArcelorMittal Dofasco and chief marketing officer, North America Flat Rolled. In 2016 he became chief marketing officer, ArcelorMittal North America and head of global automotive. Prior to his current role Brad was CEO ArcelorMittal North America, a position he held since March 2018.

Brad holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McMaster University.

Sanjay SHARMA serves ArcelorMittal as Vice president, CEO – China,VP- business development-SE Asia & India. Prior to achieving this title, Sanjay served in multiple leadership roles in China JVs- CEO for VAMA and COO at Hunan Valin Steel. Earlier he was General Manager–Merger & Acquisitions on the ArcelorMittal Corporate team. He joined ArcelorMittal in 2001, and was the part of the first team on the ground to build ArcelorMittal’s (then Mittal Steel) China operations from its early stages. After receiving his MBA, Sanjay joined McKinsey & Company, in Dubai. At McKinsey, he worked closely with the upper echelon of leading basic material industry players focusing on formulation and implementation of strategy. Sanjay started his career with Steel Authority of India Limited.

Sanjay is an Indian national with an MBA from INSEAD in France and B. Tech (Honors ‘94), Metallurgical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). He is alumnus of Harvard Business School‘s Advance Management Programme.

Wang Jing, male, Han nationality, born in December 1986 in Liuzhi, Guizhou province, joined the COMMUNIST Party of China (CPC) in July 2012 and started to work in July 2008. He has a bachelor's degree and is an engineer.
