From March 18 to 19, VAMA successfully staged its first commercial and technological event, making itself the center of attention amongst OEMs, industry experts and tier one suppliers.The event enjoyed a great turn out of more than 440 people attending to the event: 300 participants representing more than 50 car manufacturers and subcontractors, 65 commercial and technical ArcelorMittal experts coming from all over the globe, and VAMA and Valin internal representatives. A specially dedicated media event was organized on March 17th to exchange with the journalist representing different leading media in China, such as Finance Magazine, China Business News and Automobile Industry China. The media event was presided by CEO Sanjay Sharma and VAMA Chairman Wang Jun. VAMA COO and Project leader Jiao Guo Hua, CTO Jurgen Cobbaut and ArcelorMittal VP Global R&D Greg Ludkovsky participated in the 60 minutes Q&A session replying to a wide range of interesting questions.
On March 18th at 8 am sharp, VAMA Tech Day rolled out its red carpet for its guests and at the same time the S- in motion exhibition set up by ArcelorMittal officially opened its doors for the people.Mr. Sanjay Sharma, CEO of VAMA, extended his warm welcome to all guests and made a detailed introduction of VAMA’s factory, team and vision, demonstrating VAMA’s commitment to create value and help global and local auto maker to achieve sustainable development.
More than 13 internal and external speakers followed him introducing and sharing with the audience their expertise and suggestions with regards to steel solutions for automotive industry, focusing on S-in motion’s lightweight solutions and possible applications of this technology in the Chinese auto industry. “The Chinese automotive market is expanding rapidly. So, the need for quality steel is growing” quoted Professor Mr. Kang Songlin of University of Science Technology Beijing, a well known expert on automotive steels in China. Dr. Xu Xianghe from SAIC gave a detailed brief on seamless cooperation between ArcelorMittal and SAIC in the field of using light weight car solution during his speech. More than 7 global technological experts of ArcelorMittal introduced their insights and study results on lightweight door ring, hot stamping and automotive steel solutions to reduce weight and increase safety in cars.
The onsite exhibition of ArcelorMittal’s light weight solution of using steel in providing safer, lighter and greener car attracted a close attention from guests. The “S-in motion” prototype of car body exhibit enjoyed wide exposure to attending delegates from OEMs and tier one suppliers as well as the general public. Overall VAMA Tech Day event succeeded in many fronts, signaling a strong message to its market that the leading automotive steel solution provider VAMA is coming very soon.
